VINCENZA SCALETTA (nee SCERBO) On Sunday, May 2, 2004 our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the Central Park Lodge Poseidon. Vincenza is survived by her sons, Zeno (Dora), Frank (Betty) daughters, Josie Dacquisto (Dominic) and Vivian Grande (Pat) favourite niece Madeline; grandchildren, Joanne Bolen (Dan), Tony Dacquisto, Tony Scaletta (Gail), Frank Grande (Brenda), Virginia Grande (Barry Leschinski) great-grandchildren, Gina, Krystina, Nicholas, Spencer and Jackson. Vincenza was born December 8, 1908 in Amato, Italy. She came to Canada in 1929 where she met and married Antonio Scaletta in 1931. She was predeceased by her husband in 1943; her parents, Francisco and Angelarosa Scerbo; brother Ralph Scerbo; sister Kay Shewchuk and sister Teresa. After the passing of her husband in 1943, her main goal in life was to keep and raise her children, ages one to 11, to the best of her ability, which she did. Mom always put her family first with hard work and a strict hand keeping her children on the straight and narrow. Mom will be remembered by so many whose lives she touched with her gentle warmth and kindness. The family would like to thank the staff of the third floor at Poseidon for their care and comfort for the past two years. Prayers will be said on Thursday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Ave. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Parish Church with Rev. Fr. R. Pasinato officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Pallbearers will be Tony Scaletta, Frank Grande, Vince Scaletta, Augie Scaletta, Joe Scaletta and Barry Leschinski.
