ALEXINA ELLEN JORGENSON (nee CANT) Peacefully on Monday morning May 3, 2004 our beloved Mom and Grandma closed her eyes and joined hands with our beloved Father in heaven. Born in Port Shoreham, NS to Jim and Gertie Cant, she obtained her teachers certificate and moved to Halifax to begin her career at the age of 18. During the war she met and married the love of her life Herman, and together they moved to Winnipeg to raise their family. Widowed early and left to raise the family, Mom obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree at night of which she was very proud. She continued to work for the River East School Division for 30 years retiring in 1987. Mom always managed to get back to her roots in Nova Scotia every summer and enjoyed her summer home. Mom had countless friends from many circles. Gordon King Memorial Church was very important to her and her faith remained steadfast until the end. Her R.E. Teachers were in contact with her constantly meeting for lunch or talks. Her friends at East St. Paul Seniors were a part of her card games, and so importantly all her family at 1630 Henderson Hwy. (special thanks and love to Fred and Paul). Special thanks to her homecare workers (thanks to Carol for all the early morning chats) heartfelt gratitude to N2E nurses at Concordia Hospital for all their care and compassion during Moms last days (Frances, Amanda, Kathy Kirton, thanks so much). Alexina was predeceased by her parents, brothers James and Allan, sisters-in-law Pearl, Mary and brother-in-law Charlie. She is survived by her children, Allan (Linda) and Vella (Allan). Also her treasured grandchildren Michael, Larysa, Garrett, Courtney and Gavin. Mom leaves many relatives and great friends in Boston and Nova Scotia. Also sister-in-law Gladys in New Jersey, as well as nieces and nephews. A celebration of Moms wonderful life will be held at Klassen Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Troy van Ginkel officiating. Reception will follow immediately after the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. Mom would want any donations made to a charity of choice. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held on Mothers Day. Mom was the beacon in our lighthouse and we know she will continue to shine her light upon us from heaven. She was one very special lady and we will miss her everyday. KLASSEN Funeral Chapel 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
