Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER GERTRUDE-MARIE (EVA PELLETIER) Fille de la Croix 25 mars 1912 - 4 mai 2004 Sister Gertrude-Marie passed away peacefully at the Provincial House of Les Filles de la Croix, 66 Moore Ave. on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the age of 92 years, in her 71st year of Religious Life. She was predeceased by her parents, Telesphore and Eda; her brothers, Jean-Baptiste (Juliette), Albert (Ann), Amedee (Theresa), Gustave (Florence), Sylvio, Alphonse, Alfred (Lily and Rose) her sisters, Therese (Lucien Marchand) and Angeline (Alphonse Lariviere). Left to mourn her passing are her sister, Gertrude; her brother-in-law, Raoul Poirier; her sister-in-law, Juliette, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sister Gertrude-Marie began two years of formation to the Religious Life with La Congregation des Filles de la Croix at their Mother House in La Puye, France on August 26, 1931. On August 15, 1938 she pronounced her final vows in St. Adolphe, MB. As a Fille de la Croix, Sister Gertrude-Marie consecrated her life to teaching and to the care of the sick and the elderly. True to her mission, she accepted to serve in various countries in Europe as well as several parishes in Southern Manitoba and in Willow Bunch, SK. Sister Gertrude-Marie cared deeply for the children she taught as well as for the patients and the elderly whose needs she seemed to recognize intuitively. Throughout the years, she faithfully maintained the links of friendship she had developed with many of the people she had met in Europe and in Canada. When she could no longer write the letters herself, another Sister helped her to continue this form of communication which she obviously considered very important. Sister Gertrude-Marie will be remembered as a woman of faith and as a person who would not tolerate bigotry and pettiness, neither in herself or in others. Her Religious Family, Les Filles de la Croix will forever remember how, during several years, she devoted her time and energy to being the eyes and hands of our Sister Anne St-Gabriel, doing her correspondence, reading stories, news clips and prayers to her. Sister Gertrude-Marie, although of frail health, lived to serve her God and her fellow human beings to the best of her ability. May she enjoy eternal rest and peace. We, Les Filles de la Croix, would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff and the homecare workers at our Provincial House for the loving care they gave to our Sister. Their dedication has been special and greatly appreciated. Prayers for Sister Gertrude-Marie will be recited at the Provincial House Chapel at 66 Moore Ave. on Thursday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the Provincial House the following day, Friday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served in our cafeteria after the mass. Interment will take place in the St. Adolphe Parish Cemetery, in St. Adolphe, MB.
