Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERA MAY RICHARDSON (nee CROFTS) It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Vera May Richardson (nee Crofts) beloved mother, grandmother and sister. Peacefully on May 2, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital, after a short but dignified battle with cancer with her family at her side our mother lost her fight. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving children, Jim (Cindy), Roberta (Bryan), Lori (Paul) and Shelley (Bill) grandchildren, Scott (Melody), Kim (Paul), Jodi (Jake), Christopher and Deanna, Samantha and Jordan, Brett and Leanne; and her precious great-grandchildren, Tegan (and mother Marnie), Malik, Brayden, twins Faith and Noah, and newborn baby Morgan. She is also survived by her brother Albert (Joan) of Vancouver, BC; sister Marion (Phil) of Peterborough, ON, and her much loved and devoted sister Lorraine of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband Glen in 1991; her mother Florence in 1973 and father Arthur in 1987; and brother-in-law Eugene in 2000. Vera was born at St. Boniface Hospital on June 16, 1929. She spent her childhood and part of her adult years in St. Vital and then moved to North Kildonan where she spent the remainder of her life. Vera took great pride and pleasure in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying many family outings and cheering on their accomplishments. She loved travelling particularly her trips to England to visit her family. Vera loved to read and spent her many hours in the hospital entertained by books. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters and her sister, stopping to treat for dinner at her favourite restaurants. In her later years, Vera enjoyed exploring Manitobas many beautiful lakes and rural communities. The family sends special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff on 5E where Mom spent eight weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, our eternal gratitude to these wonderful people who treated our mother with dignity and respect. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Frank Bovell for his compassion, kindness and sensitivity in dealing with Mom and our family. His visits gave great comfort to us all. The family would also like to extend our thanks to Dr. Burton Abbott for his excellent care of our mother in her last week of life. He answered our endless questions with sensitivity and compassion. We owe a special debt of gratitude to the amazing staff on the palliative care ward that allowed our mother to leave this world in comfort and peace. A big thank you to Rosalind Bradford of pastoral care who sat with Mom for hours bringing her much happiness and easing her fears of death. Rosalind has been an incredible source of strength for our entire family. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and celebration of Moms life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Friday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. with Chaplain Rosalind Bradford officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Veras memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward. What Cancer Cannot Do Cancer is so limited It cannot cripple love It cannot shatter hope It cannot erode faith It cannot destroy peace It cannot kill friendship It cannot suppress memories It cannot silence courage It cannot invade the soul It cannot steal eternal life It cannot conquer the spirit. Rest in Peace, Mom Forever in our hearts CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
