Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN HILDA THATCHER It is with great sadness that we announce that Kathleen Hilda Thatcher (nee Butterfield) went to her eternal rest on Monday, May 3, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Thatcher on September 2, 2001; two brothers and a sister, John Butterfield, Kenneth Butterfield and Violet Oakes. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Irvine of Altona; two grandsons, Bradley and wife Valerie Irvine of Winnipeg and Stuart Irvine of Altona; three brothers and wives and one sister, Ray and Alma Butterfield, Winnipeg, William and Clare Butterfield, Abottsford, BC, Edward and Lucille Butterfield, Winnipeg and Brenda Russell, Richmond, BC. Kathleen was born in England on July 18, 1912 and came to Canada at the age of two. She grew up in Winnipeg. In 1996 Kay and Ralph moved to Altona. Kathleen worked at Eatons Department Store for 13 years. In 1940 she married Ralph. Kathleen loved being a homemaker and devoted her entire life to her family. For 29 years Kathleen played recorded music at weddings and social events in Winnipeg. When Ralph retired from the City of Winnipeg Fire Department Kay also retired. In their early retirement years they travelled and camped in their 5th wheel. After moving to Altona Kay looked after Ralph who had suffered a severe stroke. She was devoted to her daughters and grandsons. Kathleen moved to Eastview Care Home in April 2003. Kathleen fought some hard battles and won. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The funeral service will be Friday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Leslie Calder officiating at Wiebe Funeral Home, Altona. Interment following at Thomson "In the Park" on Waverley Street, Winnipeg. The family wishes to thank the staff of Eastview Care Home and Altona Memorial Hospital. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
