EDNA CORNER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edna Corner. Edna died peacefully at Victoria General Hospital the morning of May 5, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Corner in 1992. Edna is survived by her son, Donald (Audrey) two loving granddaughters, Donna (Tom) Lambert of Winnipeg and Brenda Corner from Vancouver; also her two treasured great-grandchildren, Amanda and Ben. Edna was born in Fort William, ON on August 15, 1902 to Minnie and George Dulmage. Edna was five years old when her father died at an early age due to pneumonia. Ednas mother remarried to William Bishop who operated hotels in Fort William, namely the Avenue and Queens. Ednas family moved to Winnipeg in 1930 where her stepfather took over the owner/management, along with Sheas Brewery, of the Empire Hotel on Main Street. Edna met the love of her life, Richard, at a New Years Eve party and were married in Holy Trinity Church on June 30, 1934. Edna gave birth to their only child Donald Richard. The family grew together in Fort Rouge, Crescentwood and Fort Garry over the ensuing 20 years and participated in many community endeavours. Dick and Edna enjoyed many winter vacations in Mesa, AZ and longer stays when Dick retired as Battalion Chief for the City of Winnipeg Fire Department. Edna has been widowed now for 12 years and her reunion with Dick in the hereafter will bring her peace. Edna resided at Lions Manor for the past six years and had made many friends who graciously refer to her as "Mom". Special thanks go to the many Lions Manor Homecare workers over the years who kindly looked after Mom - Dr. Dhillon, Dr. Smelsky, Nurse Jean Chennell and the staff of Victoria Hospital on the Third and Fifth floors, whose care and compassion over the past 30 days were unsurpassed. At Ednas request, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. A private family service and interment will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ednas memory may be made to Victoria Hospital or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
