CLARICE ARNASON It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Clarice on May 5, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre. Mom was surrounded in love with her family by her side. Left to cherish her memory is Joe, her loving husband and companion of 64 years; her children, Dick Arnason (Kathy Marks) of Gimli, MB; grandchildren, Toby Noiles (Rob) and their children, Chelsi and Natasha, Johann Arnason (Ashley Pawluk), Joanna Baron (Craig), Erik Grimolfson, Alana Grimolfson; Carol MacDonald (Hugh) of San Clemente, CA; grandchildren, Hughie MacDonald (Marianna) and their daughter Kyla, and Heidi MacDonald; Terry Verbiwski (Barry) of Selkirk, MB; grandchildren, Heather Fontaine (Troy) and their children, Josie and Ella; Nancy Ross (Tim) and their daughter Camille and Tim Verbiwski; Leslie Arnason (Amy) of Winnipeg, MB and grandson Jeffery Arnason; Brenda Luprypa of Gimli; grandchildren, Samara, Tabby and Danny-Joe; Sheila Isfeld (Ron) of Selkirk; grandchildren, Charity and her daughter Johanna; Dwayne Arnason of Gimli; grandchildren, Nicole Arnason, Michelle Alexander (Stefan) and their children, Jacob and Charlotte; Sandra MacVicar (Wayne) of Selkirk and their children, Riley and Tanner. Clarice was born in Arnes, MB on December 5, 1919. She was predeceased by her parents, Johann and Jona Arason; her sisters, Ella, Helga, Edda, Sheila; and her brother Eddy. She is survived by her sisters, Kristjun Bolton of Winnipeg and Josie Erlendson of Arborg; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Mom was raised in Gimli. It was there she met Joe and they married March 15, 1940. Mom stood by dads side as they travelled to fishing camps where she cooked. She spent time as a young wife and mother of a two year old travelling across Canada during the war to be with her husband. They returned to Gimli and continued to raise seven more children. Our home was open to everyone. There was always an extra one at the dinner table. Mom kept a beautiful home and took pride in being our mom. We know that we are privileged to have grown up in a happy home with so much love. We will always be grateful. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Cremation to follow. Her pallbearers will be her grandsons, Johann Arnason, Jeffery Arnason and nephew Leslie Einarson, Walter Einarson, Norman Dalman and Brett Arnason. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. R.C. Patel for the personal care he gave mom. Also, many thanks to the staff on the 4th floor, Health Sciences Centre. The nurses and neurosurgeons treated her with respect and dignity. A special thank you to Pastor George Johnson who arrived in time to be with her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Mother You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true, No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you. For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return. If all the world deserted us To our Mother we could turn. For those of you who have a mother Treasure her with care, For you will never know her value Til you see that shes not there. To hear her voice To see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be our dearest wish today. Mom, rest in Peace. We love you. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli, in care arrangements.
