Date of Passing: May 06, 2004
Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA ELIZABETH JACKSON (GIRARD nee WASTLE) May 5, 1921 - May 6, 2004 After a brief illness, Edna leaves to cherish her memory; her daughters, Leigh (Rick Sherby) and Karen (Roger Watson) four grandchildren, Heather, John, Dana and Michael and one great-grandson, Fraser. She will also be fondly remembered by her brothers, George Wastle (Audrey), Allan Wastle (Nettie) and sisters, Ethel Grant and Muriel Grieg (Bill), many in-laws and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Vic Girard (1989): her second husband, Marshall Jackson (2000): and her son, Wayne (2000). Edna grew up in Oak Bluff, Manitoba, with her ten brothers and sisters. She moved to Winnipeg and married Vic in 1943. She raised her family in St. Boniface and worked part-time at Eatons until the early 1970s when she purchased and operated "Marion Rubber Stamp". She retired in the mid 1980s. Edna was well known for her quick wit and sense of fun. She enjoyed cooking, reading and Bingo. She made many friends at her apartment block and had a very special bond with her neighbour, Georgette. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E, especially Diane, for their compassion and dedication with not only Moms needs, but also with those of the family. It was truly appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion Street. Flowers gratefully declined.
