ANNA LOUISE ELIZABETH BARRETT (WIEBE) Anna Louise Barrett died quietly and peacefully, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at age 73, after a battle with cancer. Anna was born in Zweibruecken Germany in 1930 and was a daughter of the late Anna Weibe and the late Franz Weibe of Germany. She was the beloved wife of the late Franklyn Barrett; loving mother of Karl (Lorraine), Anna Schmidt, Herman (Maggie) Richard (Sue Williams), Roland (Brenda), and Christopher (Leanne Canty). Her eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren also survive her. At the time of her death, Annaliese, as she was known, resided in Winnipeg with Anna Schmidt, her daughter. Annaliese had greatly missed her husband, Frank, who passed away only one year ago. She grew up in Germany and immigrated to Canada to marry Frank, who she had met while he was serving overseas in the Royal Canadian Airforce. Annaliese was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed feeding everyone. Her gourmet creations were the focus of every family gathering. She had a lot of spirit and a wicked sense of humour, which would take you by surprise. Annaliese will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service was held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
