STANLEY WALTER BLONSKI December 12, 1922 - April 15, 2004 Parents Karol and Katarzyna emigrated from Poland in the 1900s to Winnipeg and had four sons, Casey, Stan and Ted (twins) and Bernie. Stan attended Faraday Elementary School, then Sir Isaac Newton High School. "Stan the Man" very early became an entrepreneur selling produce from a handcart to help out the family. He voluntarily enlisted into the Canadian Army at 17. While stationed in England, he met and married Elsie Mary White, both age 19, eventually producing children, all surviving, Shirley Ann, Wendy Rose, Penny, Stanley Edward and Mandy Lee; also grandchildren, Rob, Ken, Cathy and Cheri and great-grandchild Andrew. He is also survived by older brother Casey and Helen (deceased), Tony and Sophie Jaworsky all of Winnipeg and Joe (deceased) and Anna Blonski of Brandon. He served overseas for the entire war in England, Italy, Sicily, North Africa and Holland. His medals are numerous and so are the dark and painful memories of his exploits, forever imprinted on his mind. After repatriation, two years later, he enlisted into the Canadian Air Force becoming a chef and later remustering to a carpenter, which was also his hobby. With perpetual enthusiasm he was an athlete, acute card player and sportsman, rooting loudly for his favourite teams, Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He finally retired from military life, in London, ON. His first civilian job was Superintendent of the Western Fair. His many businesses were a family restaurant, wholesale fudge, trout fishing pond, chip wagon and always carpentry and renovations. Stan, with his love of people, helped many charitable causes. In 1985 he married Ida Caldwell, with 18 years together they travelled from Florida to Hawaii, England, etc. That one man could do so much See so much and love so much is a shining example to his loved ones, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimers Society.
