THEODORE (TED) JOSEPH CLOSE Theodore (Ted) Joseph Close, aged 86 years, died peacefully Sunday evening May 2, 2004. Born August 9, 1917 in Winnipeg where he resided all his life. Theodore is survived by older sister Bernice Greene of Burnaby, BC and younger sister, Irene Lion of Medicine Hat, AB, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. To those who knew him well, he will be sadly missed but often remembered for his love of country music, Toronto Maples Leafs, his excellent taste in the finer things in life and his enjoyment of good food. Predeceased by parents, Mary and Norman Close; brothers, Emil, Gerald, Rene; sister Evelyn Shad. After 20 years working for the CPR, he retired in 1982. He loved to collect anything to do with trains-hats, mini-toys, pictures. He lived his retiring years at 185 Smith St. where he enjoyed Senior outings with his friends. He belonged to the music group playing and entertaining with his harmonica. Theodore or Ted to his many friends was a member of St. Marys Cathedral where he spent many hours assisting at Mass. He was also a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marys Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, Tuesday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Darrin Gurr officiating. Interment in Assumption Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for the care of Theodore over the past year, especially Hazel and Betty for their loving kindness.
