Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET BLODWEN PAGE On Saturday, May 1, 2004 Auntie Vi died suddenly but peacefully at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Vi was predeceased by her beloved husband Dick Page in 1961; her parents, Hugh and Edith Williams; brothers, Bill, Hughie, Bob; and sister Kay. She is survived by her sister Jean Nye of Brandon. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends and especially the nieces and nephews that she nurtured and loved as if they were her own. Vi was born in Wales in 1908 and came to Winnipeg as a toddler with her mother and Kay following Hugh who had came over first to find work. She grew up happily in the little one bedroom house on Morley Avenue with her parents and five siblings. In 1937, she married Dick Page "the love of her life." These soul mates worked together as a team first in Lake Louise, then at the C.P.R. lunch counter in Brandon and for many years at the Golden Gate Cafe on Rosser Avenue. They finally opened the first Diary Queen in Brandon and became part owners of the A&W. Just when their lives should have been getting easier, Uncle Dick tragically died of cancer. "Life has to end but love doesnt." Auntie Vi has kept his memory alive in her heart for the last 43 years and now she will be laid to rest beside him at the Brandon Cemetery. Vi was a remarkable woman. She made the best Christmas cakes and pickled onions. She created beautiful yards and gardens, needlepoint pictures and hooked rugs. Vi was recognized in 2002 for 60 years of faithful service by the Order of the Eastern Star. She had a deep love for animals, always having a dog in her life with her last treasure being "Daisy." We wish to thank the wonderful, professional and caring staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for making the transition from her "own home" in Brandon to her "new home" in Winnipeg such a positive experience. A memorial service to celebrate Vis life will be held on Monday, May 10 at the Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th St., Brandon at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joan Jarvis of Central United Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th St. East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6 would please Auntie Vi. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, Brandon, 1-800-897-5694.
