Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS PHILLIP ALEXANDER LETANDRE February 19, 1921 - May 7, 2004 Surrounded by the love and warmth of his family, our dad departed peacefully from his earthly body to enter the presence of his eternal Father in Heaven. It is with mixed emotions that we make this announcement to friends and community. Sadness, at our deep sense of loss, but happiness also, knowing Dads struggles and pain are passed and that he is reunited with his life partner, our mother. Thanks be to God, our Creator. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary; his parents, David and Mary, his father and mother-in-law, John and Henrietta; his brother Harold; and sister-in-law Doris; his grandson Darryl; and granddaughter Lindsay. Dad is survived by his children, Lorne, Shirley (Eugene), Harvey, Sherman (Sarah), Gordon (Lily), John (Karen), Alan (Rita), and Jerry (Sandy). Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, sister Kathleen and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Our dad was blessed with a long, excellent quality of life. Right up until his illness, Dad was active, mobile and independent. Dad served his community for many years as a Band Councillor and Anglican Church Warden. He worked with concrete making grave markers and covers for people in our community and surrounding communities as well. During his lifetime, Dad was a commercial fisherman, trapper, farmer, carpenter, and housing inspector for Interlake Reserves Tribal Council. Dad was a respected community Elder, serving on numerous boards and committees working for the betterment of our community. Our dad was truly an amazing individual. Not having the benefit of a formal education, he taught himself to read and write. He overcame much personal adversity in his life, however, he was determined, he persevered, and he emerged victorious. Dads personal interests (joys) were, playing, singing and listening to music, studying and talking about the Bible and visiting with friends at coffee shops and restaurants along Hwy No. 6. He was affectionately known as "Smilin Louie". Dad valued each and every moment of the time he was given as a gift from God. He was seldom idle. He could be heard saying, "Ive got to keep moving. I would die if I just sat around." Please come and share in our grief and joy as we celebrate our dads life with a prayer service and viewing on Wednesday, May 12 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Ashern Gospel Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Helens Anglican Church, Fairford, MB with his son John D. Letandre officiating. Interment in St. Helens Anglican Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael Anderson, Vincent Letandre, Elliot Letandre, Lydell Letandre; and granddaughters, Tannis Letandre and Tara Letandre. Honorary Pallbearers will be his friends, Clare Letandre, Paul Letandre, Alex Letandre, Peter Madsen, Allan Thompson and Donald Gould. Crossbearer will be his grandson Jerry Letandre. Thanks be to God. May he Rest in Peace. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072
