RONALD HENRY ERHART In the early hours of Saturday, May 8, 2004, our husband, father, and friend Ron, aged 59 years, was taken from us without warning. Ron will be sadly missed by his wife, best friend, and soul mate of 37 years, Betty; daughter Jan (Tim) brother Ray (Irma) of Nanaimo, BC; sisters-in-law, Barb (Garry) and Joyce; in-laws Murdoch and Phyllis Kirton; step-mom Myra Hooper; all his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and numerous friends and associates. He was predeceased by his mother and father Wilhelmina and Henry, and his brother Eddie. Ron spent his first years on the family farm in Camper until the family moved to Winnipeg around 1954. He attended school in St. Vital and at MIT (RRCC), spent some time in the auto body profession, then became a car-man with CN Railway. In 1973, he quit the railway to start his own roofing business and later, for a time, worked in construction in Manitoba and North West Territories. In 1983 Ron and his family built a home in Clandeboye. Ron went back to roofing, doing both private jobs and subcontracting for Lansard Bros., he also worked at siding, soffit, and decided to try his hand at eavestroughing. He was a man of many professions. When Ron took time off, he enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling to BC to see his brother and his family, going to baseball games, setting up the yard at Christmas time for all to enjoy the lights, but he especially enjoyed taking time to stop and smell the roses with his family and snoozing with his dog Skooter. He was eagerly awaiting the chance to become a grandfather to twins in the fall. It seemed that, young and old, those who met Ron grew to count him as a friend. He took everyone at face value and gave them a chance before passing judgement. Many young men received Rons mentoring and because of this went on to successful careers of their own. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. A private family interment of ashes will take place prior to the service. We would like to thank the paramedics from Selkirk General Hospital, St Andrews first responders, the doctors and nurses who worked so hard to bring him back to us, and who treated us all with so much compassion and genuine caring. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rons memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Ill like you for always, Love you forever. As long as Im living. My sweetheart youll be. Nite honey. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
