BARBARA JULIA DANIELS (nee BEARDY) With great sadness we announce the passing of Barbara Julia Daniels at Central Park Lodge, 440 Edmonton Ave., on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the age of 65 years. Barbara was born in Garden Hill on February 11, 1939, moving to Portage la Prairie at the age of six to attend residence school until the age of 16, later moving to Winnipeg. While living in Winnipeg, Barbara was active in raising her family in the Aboriginal community. She was proud of her heritage and always practised her traditional ways. Barbara enjoyed spending time with the young people and trying to instill the Aboriginal values, traditions and culture in the youth. She was active in many Aboriginal community organizations. She leaves to carry on her legacy two daughters, Darlene and Lisa; three sons, Reinhold, Karl and Michael; five grandchildren, Melissa, Amber-Sekowan, Sarah, Kyle and Tyler; two brothers, Epstein and Tiras; five sisters, Harriet, Maggie Jane, Lillian, Jessie and Isabel. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolph, parents, Dinah and John Beardy; and brother Jackson. Prayers and traditional wake was held on Saturday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr, Winnipeg. Wake service will be held on Sunday, May 16 at Garden Hill. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Henry Fiddler Memorial United Church, Garden Hill with Rev. Jacob Keno officiating. Interment to follow at Garden Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barbaras memory to Opikihiwan Pow Wow Dancers, 400-491 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2E4. ABORIGINAL FUNERAL CHAPEL 724 SELKIRK AVE. 586-7700
