JEANNETTE CORMIER (nee LAFORTUNE) Au Centre Tache de St. Boniface, le 10 mai 2004, a lage de 88 ans, est decedee paisiblement Mme Jeannette Cormier. Elle est precedee par son epoux Felix J.M. Cormier; ses freres Joseph, Marcien, Hubert, Edouard et ses soeurs Berthe, Cecile et Therese. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Maurice (Anita Rochon), Marguerite, Rita (Ernest Miron) ses 15 petits-enfants; ses 9 arrieres petits-enfants; ses soeurs: Irene Clifford, Marguerite Petit, Yvonne Brodie, Ida Appelmans, Georgette Forbes et Anita Balzer; ainsi que ses beaux-freres et belles soeurs, de nombreux neveux et nieces, cousins, cousines et ami(e)s. Nee a Woodridge, Manitoba le 17 septembre 1915, fille de Georges a. et Eugenie Lafortune (Guay), elle a vecu une grande partie de sa jeunesse a Labroquerie. Elle prit residence a Winnipeg en 1936. Durant ses annees de travail, elle accepta un poste de commis de bureau au Sanatorium de St. Boniface pour 2 ans, fut surveillante en chef au bureau dadmission a lhopital de St. Boniface pendant plus de 22 ans et receptioniste au bureau de la fondation Youville pour deux ans jusqua sa retraite, ces centres etant toujours sous les auspices des Soeurs Grises. Son devouement au service de ces institutions et au soin des malades fut exemplaire. Jeannette sest distinguee par sa simplicite, son sens dhumour, son devouement a sa famille, sa grande foi et devotion a la Vierge Marie. Sinceres remerciements au Docteur Duval, Dr. Waldner, les infirmieres et tout le personnel du Centre Tache pour les excellents soins ainsi que lamitie quils ont offerts a Jeannette et a sa famille. Les prieres seront recitees le vendredi soir 14 mai, a 19 heures au Salon Funeraire Desjardins. La messe des funerailles sera celebree le samedi 15 mai a 10 heures en la Cathedrale de St. Boniface. Linhumation suivra au cimetiere de St. Boniface. Jai cherche Celui que mon coeur aime. Il mentend. Dieu mappelle a Lui. (Cantique des Cantiques) JEANNETTE CORMIER (nee LAFORTUNE) Passed away peacefully on May 10, 2004 at Tache Nursing Centre at the age of 88 years. She is predeceased by her husband Felix J.M. Cormier; her brothers: Joseph, Marcien, Hubert and Edouard and her sisters: Berthe, Cecile, Therese. She will be sadly missed by her children; Maurice (Anita Rochon), Marguerite et Rita (Ernest Miron) her 15 grandchildren; her nine great-grandchildren; her sisters: Irene Clifford, Marguerite Petit, Ida Appelmans, Yvonne Brodie and Anita Balzer; along with brothers and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Born in Woodridge, MB, September 17, 1915, Jeannette daughter of George A. and Eugenie Lafortune (Guay), spent most of her youth in Labroquerie. She moved to Winnipeg in 1936. Her work resume boasts two years as receptionist at the St. Boniface Sanatorium, over 22 years as admitting supervisor at St. Boniface Hospital and receptionist for two years at the Youville Foundation until her retirement; all these centres being under the auspices of the Grey Nuns. Her devotion and commitment to service and to the care of their patients at these institutions was exemplary. She will be remembered for her simplicity, her good humour, her dedication to family as well as for her strong faith life and devotion to the Blessed Virgin. We are grateful to Doctor R. Duval, Dr. Waldner, the nurses, aides and entire personnel at the Tache Nursing Centre for their excellent care and special friendship they offered Jeannette and her family. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 14 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Desmeurons St. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, in the Saint Boniface Cathedral with interment to follow.
