Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD DALMAN MARCH 25, 1918 - MAY 9, 2004 With his children at his side, Harold peacefully passed away at Betel Home in Gimli on Sunday, May 9, 2004. He is lovingly remembered by his children. Joan (Chris) Squire of Comox, BC and grandchild Sheila Langois (Denis) of Suffield, AB and their son Patrick; Norm (Pat) Dalman of Gimli and grandchildren, Kirsten (Steven) Josephson of Gimli and their other children Willow and Soren, and Tannys Williams of Toronto, ON; Judy (Garth) Bradley of Winnipeg, Raymond (Rachel) Dalman of Winnipeg and grandchildren Kurt (Teresa) Ross and Calvin Ross; Gordon (Eileen) Dalman of Gimli and grandchildren Candice Dalman and her daughter Ive and Christopher Dalman; daughter-in-law Arlene (Jim) Love of Winnipeg. He is also survived by brothers, Norman (Betty) Dalman, Frank (Margaret) Dalman, Gordon Dalman; and sisters, Corrine Copping, and Victoria (Les) Clark. Harold was predeceased by his loving wife Sheila, baby daughter Brenda, son Wayne, brother Arnold and sister Evelyn Copping. Dad was born in Selkirk and grew up on a dairy farm. As a young man he moved to Petersfield, married Mom and farmed until they moved to Gimli in 1947. They set down roots and raised their family, this was Dad's Valhalla. Dad operated a bulk oil agency and later managed the Lakeside Camp while being actively involved in the development of the community, volunteering his time with service groups and providing assistance to others. Our home was full of people, busy and always open to everyone, and there usually were extras. Dad enjoyed reading, doing crosswords puzzles, telling stories and debating, gardening and golfing. When he retired he was able to devote more time to these interests, especially to his gardening or golfing. Dad was a person with great compassion, which was evident by his love for his family and serving people, and by being Gimli's unofficial ambassador. We would like to express our thanks to the wonderful staff on the second floor of the Gimli Betel Home who took such special care of our father. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Dad your spirit will always remain with us, and be lovingly remembered. Gilbert Funeral Chapel, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
