ROSE ORZECHOWSKI AND NICHOLAS ORZECHOWSKI
Date of Passing: May 04, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE ORZECHOWSKI AND NICHOLAS ORZECHOWSKI On May 4, 2004 our Baba, Rose Orzechowski (Kobernyk) reunited with her beloved husband and our Gido, Nicholas, who passed away six weeks earlier on March 25, 2004. Albeit sad to some who might read this or to the family and friends left behind to cherish the memories of happier times, it is just a new beginning for our grandparents. A celebration of love and giving was the trademark of our Baba and Gido. Memories are abundant of tree houses, bowls of peroghy and holopchi or of hot dogs and hamburgers at the many hotels once owned by Rose and Nick in Manitou, Winnipeg and Sault Ste. Marie. Of hot summer nights, ghost stories, frolicking with youthful abandon as children with Baba and Gido ever so much looking out for us. We watched as children and learned family values of trust, honesty and integrity. From modest beginnings and of Ukrainian heritage for Rose, born in Kenora and to Nick, born in the Ukraine, but settling in Plumas, the two began a lifelong journey together. Three children, Bill, Wanda and Linda and their families, shared in the familys growth. Over a period of 57 years, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews were touched in some way. Our Babas and Gidos lives were considered complete; full of love and commitment. Their legacy to all of us and in fact to all who they touched over the years is one which is best described as an unquestioning devotion to all people, a trust that we will all work to provide a better world and an ability to forgive any who might have strayed. As we carry on and see to it that their legacy is never forgotten, we will look at our children and wish they too will create wonderful memories as did these two people, our Baba and Gido, who made our time together a little more special. Our family thanks all of the health care professionals and providers who worked so graciously and compassionately over the years with special gratitude to Dr. Russell Albak, the Victoria General Hospital and the Holy Family Nursing Home. A private family tribute will be held at the Lake of the Woods in early summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2G8 specifying the gifts be directed to the Oncology Building Fund.
