WILLIAM "BILL" RUTHERFORD With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bill Rutherford on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at the age of 88, at Eastgate Lodge in Beausejour, MB. Surrounded by family he passed over to join his wife Dorothy on the date of their wedding anniversary 67 years ago. We would like to express the familys gratitude towards the caring and compassionate staff of Eastgate Lodge for the long term care extended to him. He is survived by his son Michael (Sandy) daughter-in-law Stella; grandchildren, Kelly Boyce (Ron), Kathy Rutherford, Lisa Thomas (Trevor), Shannon Schuerbeke (James), Patricia Penner (Jason), Jim Rutherford, Gary Rutherford (Virgelene) and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Clara Powell (Wallace), Doris Roberts; brother Edward Rutherford (Margo) and nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his wife Dorothy, son Gary and one brother Robert who passed away one year ago. Bill started working for McCabe Grain Company as general manager and in 1953 he joined his brother-in-law Wallace Powell who had acquired Breen Motors. Century Motors LTD. and Prairie Reman LTD were then formed and Bill rose from general manager to chairman of the board culminating in his retirement in 1990. Bill was well known and respected in the auto industry serving as past president of the Manitoba Dealer Council. He also was a Mason and member of Khartum Temple. Bill and Dorothy enjoyed many winters as residents of LongBoat Key, FL. A private family service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memoriam to the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.
