FLORENCE ELIZABETH NEILLINGS (nee JENKINS) 1910 - 2004 Peacefully, with her daughter at her side, Florence passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at the Beacon Hill Lodge. Florence is survived by her daughter Joyce Doman and husband Chuck, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Terry and Bob Makowski (Robyn and Alisyn), Debbie and Randy Williams (Mike, Matthew and Christine), Colleen and Tim Dow (Charlene, Scott and Jared), Tom and Karen Neillings (John and Scott), Denise and Ray Cheys (Amanda and Lyndon), Barbara and Pat Doyle (Tyler), Don and Rhonda Neillings (Kelsey and Christa) also sister-in-law Patricia Jenkins and family. Mom was predeceased by her husband Tom; son Bob and daughter-in-law Joan; her brothers George and wife Simone, and Bill Jenkins; grandson Donald Doman, and great-granddaughter Kathryn-Anne Makowski. Mom was born in New York City and at an early age her family moved to Carberry, MB. It is here where Mom grew up and eventually moved to Winnipeg in her late teens. Mom met Thomas Neillings and on December 10, 1932 they were married. On June 4, 1939, Dad passed away and mom became the sole supporter of herself and two children (Joyce and Bob). She did this with great courage and character. Mom exemplified everything that is good, kind, loving and gentle. She set an incredible example of self sacrifice, generosity and kindness that is difficult to emulate. We will forever cherish in our hearts her positive outlook, great Irish wit, sense of humour, instant forgiveness and unconditional love. Moms beautiful Irish blue eyes lit up every time she told a joke. She was remarkably intuitive, and responsive and had a genuine interest in people. Mom loved all animals but had a special passion for cats. Especially Nella and Ivy who kept her company over the years at Beacon Hill Lodge. She was an avid reader of detective magazines and an expert on crossword puzzles. Mom has left a legacy of beautiful memories and life lessons to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These memories will enrich the lives of generations to come. Her spirit lives on and her love is with us now and forever. The family wishes to thank the 9th floor nurses and staff, especially Doreen, at Beacon Hill Lodge, for their compassion and care and special thanks to Dr. Burke. A memorial service celebrating Florences life will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. with a private family interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Florences memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: EDWARD J.
