EMMA VAN ELSLANDER On May 8, 2004, Mrs. Emma Van Elslander, a longtime resident of Kamloops, passed away at the age of 91 years. Survived by her loving family, one son Albert (Josie) Van Elslander of Kamloops; four granddaughters, Suzanne (Jim) Bayntun, Joanne (Gary) Smith, Anita (Mario) Consalvo and Karen (Shane) Coutlee; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, James, JR, Christopher, Catherine, Noah, Rio, Taya, Paige, Miya, Abigail and Taryn. She also leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Edith Wagner and Winnie Meikle and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Elie in 1986, son Ronald in 1964 and six brothers, Edward, Karl, Fred, Mike, Gus and Emil. Emma was born in Manitoba on December 5, 1912 and has resided in Kamloops since 1945. She was looking forward to receiving her 60 year pin as a member of the Catholic Womens League at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She volunteered many hours to OLPH and enjoyed spending time in her yard, flower garden and crocheting. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Kamloops Home Care and Hospice House. A special thank-you to Emmas granddaughter Anita for all her loving care. Prayers will be recited at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Wednesday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. Monsignor John MacIntyre and Rev. Father Peter Nguyen will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in the Church on Thursday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow, family plot Hillside Cemetery. If friends desire, donations to Marjorie Snowden Hospice House, 72 Whiteshield Cres. South, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 in memory of Emma Van Elslander would be appreciated. Schoening Funeral Service, Kamloops, BC in care of arrangements.
