MARET (MARY) CHRISTINA CARLSON (nee MOBERG) Maret (Mary) Christina Carlson died May 12, 2004 in Winnipeg in her 93rd year. Born May 31, 1911 in Ljungdalen, Sweden, she immigrated with her family to Canada in 1924, settling first in Chatfield, MB and then Clan William, MB. She married Hartwig Carlson in 1935. Although Hartwigs work took them across Canada, they always returned home to Winnipeg and later to their cottage on Falcon Lake. Maret was a long time member of St. Marks Lutheran Church and of the VASA Order of America. She was predeceased by Hartwig (1991) and her sister, Signe Johnson (1998). She was a resident of the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home since 1990 after suffering a stroke. Maret is survived by her sons, Mel of Toronto and Bert (Maureen) by her grandchildren, Anna-Christina (Eric Whan), Jeffrey and Amanda; as well as by her great-grandchildren, Oscar and Angus Carlson-Whan. She will be remembered for her strength and determination as well as for her devotion to her family. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Tuxedo Villa for their kind care and attentions over the past 14 years.
