CATHERINE ISABEL GUTTORMSON-PRISE (nee ISFJORD) Peacefully, on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, surrounded by the love of her family, our beloved mother passed away at the age of 60. Kathy was predeceased by her first husband, James; survived by her second husband Robert; her children, Susan (Jake), Daniel (Bonnie), Patrick, Kenneth (Kathy) her grandchildren Matthew, Laura, Michael, Cassie and Kennedy; her step-children, James (Judy), Douglas (Joan), Sandy (Gay), Laura (Bruce), and their children, Kaleb, Jackson, Jefferey, Lindsay, Leith, Felicia, Ian, Stefanie, Melanie, Blaine and Lexie. She also leaves her brothers, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was born and raised in Gimli, MB where she spent most of her life here among family and friends. She loved nature, cooking and traveling and shared most of these things with everyone around her, as she was a very kind and generous woman. Kathy began working at the Betel Home Foundation and spent many years there as a Health Care Aide. After taking the challenge and achieving her Class 1A licence she began working on the road, hauling for Allied Van Lines. Later she and Jimmy would purchase and operate a business in Nelson, B.C. until Jimmys passing. She later moved back home to Gimli, where she would meet and marry Bob, and returned to work at Betel until her retirement in 2000. Now Mom was able to spend time in her gardens and with her grandchildren as she enjoyed spoiling them and tending to there every need. Mom also loved spending as much time as possible with her brothers and sisters, whether having coffee, or celebrating special occasions, and with such a large family there were many good times had by all. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 1st Ave, Gimli, MB. Interment to follow at the Gimli Community Cemetery. Thank-you goes out to Dr. R.C. Patel and the staff at JMH for the care and kindness provided, and to Julie Kumps for the extra care to mom over the years, we all appreciate your time and efforts. Special thanks to Mona for being there for Mom, and everyone close to her, you made a difficult time a little easier to deal with. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Gimli Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, in care of the Gimli Medical Center, Gimli, MB, R0C-1B0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
