JOHN DAVID MANNALL October 14, 1939 - May 12, 2004 On Wednesday, May 12, 2004, with his family at his side, John passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Centre. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and everyone whose life he touched. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Evelyn of 35 years; their two children, daughter Kerri (Trevor) of Winnipeg and son Kenton (Shannon) of Winnipeg; two sisters, Ellen (Bob) Goodsman of Imperial, SK and Shirley (Don) Derkson of Calgary; father James of British Columbia; father-in-law Harry Shorland of Brandon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norman and Betty Shorland of Winnipeg and May and Tom Knight of Brandon; "special uncle" to nieces and nephews, Richard (Carolee), Wesley (Lorelyn), Jeffrey (Kendra), Jason, Gregory (Sandee), Cindy (Stan), Carmen and Bevan; great-nephews and niece, Riley, Tyson, Janelle and Eldon. He was predeceased by his mother Janet Florence in 1995. John was born in Ft. QuAppelle, SK and moved to Winnipeg as a youth. He worked with Manitoba Telephone System from 1958 until his retirement in 1996. John will be missed by his afternoon hockey teammates, neighbours, past coworkers, friends and all those he took time to share a coffee and a chat with. The family expresses a special thanks to nurses, Sarah, Vince, Catarina, Judy, Norma and all the Health Sciences Centre staff on GA4 for their loving tender care to John and the kindness to his family. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson "In the Park", Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with Richard Knight officiating. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of John to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Canadian Cancer Society, MB Division, 193 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
