EVELYN MAUDE PATTERSON (nee GIBBONS) Quietly and peacefully, on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Grace General Hospital, Evelyn passed away at the age of 91 years. She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother to Gary (Lorraine), Del Matheson (Jack) daughter in-law Carol; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband William James; and her eldest son James George. Evelyn, the only child of George and Maude Gibbons, was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 2, 1912. Her early years were spent in Winnipeg before moving to a farm near Russell, MB. Her young adult life was spent in Chicago with her parents, where she attended Business College. They later returned to the farm. She met and married her husband, William James, whereupon, they continued farming before moving to Russell, MB in 1947, when Bill began his own business. In 1966, Evelyn moved to Winnipeg after her husbands passing in 1965. In keeping with Evelyns wishes, a private family funeral service will be held at a later date. Our family wishes to thank the staff at the Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion and special thanks to Dr. Macek. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyns memory may be made to the Arthritis Society, 105 - 386 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6 or to a charity of ones choice.
