MAURICE LEON ADLEMAN (July 22, 1916 - May 15, 2004) Maurice passed away on May 15, 2004 after a courageous battle. Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Isaac and Edith; his wife Jean; and his brother Ben. Maurice is survived by his children, Barrie (Bellarri), Sladen (Susan) and Neil (Maureen) his grandchildren, Jay, Robin (Peter), Brent, Daniel, Deborah, Jenna and Alana; his sister Marion Sherman; and his niece Bonnie Brojges and her family. Although Maurice was a successful and respected businessman, first in the restaurant business and then in the nursing home business, he dedicated his life to his family and foremost to his wife, Jean. His marriage of over 60 years was truly one of profound love and devotion, not only during their many happy years together, but in particular when our mother became ill. His every waking moment was then spent caring for her and being by her side. Maurice took great pleasure in sharing in the lives of his children, grandchildren and his extended family. We not only lost a loving and caring father and grandfather, but we also lost our best friend. The funeral was held on May 16 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue with interment taking place at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Jay Adleman, Brent Adleman, Daniel Adleman, Peter Kraut; and his nephews, Alvin Yaren and Jeffrey Brojges. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sharon Home, Simkin Centre and the exceptional staff on 5 North at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion. A special thank you to Drs. Cavers, Young and Greene. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
