LILLIAN FLORENCE DYKES (nee GRANT) Peacefully, with her daughter Linda by her side, Lillian passed away on Monday, May 17, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital. Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband Walter; parents Hilda and Herbert Grant; brothers, Archie and Ted; as well as Claire of Ottawa. She is survived by her loving and caring daughter Linda Ens; her husband Henry and children, Amanda (great-grandson Cody) and Sabrina; son Richard and wife Margaret and grandchildren, Eric, Kari and Ian; sister Emily Gold and youngest brother Ernie; also special niece and nephew Kajhilda and Brian. Mom will be sadly missed by her cousin Joan Leighton and her husband George, in England, with whom she regularly kept in touch over the years. Mom and Dad were one of the first couples to start raising their children on Parkside Drive in St. James, after the war. Mom worked at the Kings Theatre for 27 years, also attending St. James United Church and in later years, the St. James Legion. After retirement Mom and Dad enjoyed many years at their cottage in Winnipeg Beach and a day didnt go by without a card game with their friends. Mom also got cajoled by Dad into taking a couple of cruises and going to Hawaii. After Dads passing in 1982, and seven years on her own, she came to live with her daughter and her husband for her remaining years. During that time she enjoyed many a "camping" expedition, visiting family and friends east and west. She was the happiest going for drives or sitting in her sun room, reading and enjoying nature. She will leave a deep hole in the heart of her daughter and be sadly missed by the rest of her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
