BEATTY HILL Suddenly but peacefully, Beatty Hill, aged 85 years, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his wife Frieda; his daughter Sandra (Michael) Cox; daughter-in-law Carol; grandchildren, Douglas (Helene) Hill, Karen (Richard) Maas, Jennifer (Hugh) McFadyen, Steven (Jane) Cox; and great-grandchildren, Rachael McFadyen and Jack Maas. He was predeceased in 1996 by his son Bryan. Beatty was born in North Bay, ON. After a brief career as a funeral director in Pembroke, ON, he joined the military in 1943. He retired from the Ordnance Corps as a Captain in 1973 and from National Defence as a NATO advisor in 1979. He was awarded the OMM (Order of Military Merit) for his services in munitions and security. Following retirement, Beatty had a rich and full life, enjoying the company of friends and family, good food, new cars, travel and many special gatherings. The family would like to thank Dr. Ray Singer; home care staff, Ray, Ricardo, Christine, and Linda; and the paramedics for their care. In keeping with Beattys wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held on Thursday, May 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7; the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6; or a charity of your choice.
