Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDRA OSKS KLAPPRAT (nee SOLVASON) It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandma Alexandra Klapprat, in the presence of her family, on Sunday May 16, 2004 at the age of 56 years. Alexandra was born on November 22, 1947, along with her triplet sisters Elizabeth and Mary, in Winnipeg. Alexandra leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 35 years Andrew; and three children, Andrew, Andria (Troy), Arron; and five grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth, Mary, Karen (Don), Corinne and Rayleen; brothers, Raymond, Desmond and Lorne (Florence) sisters-in-law, Norma, Marilyn; and brother-in-law Ray (Armande). Many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces also cherish her memory. Alexandra was predeceased by her father Karl Solvason (1984) her mother and stepfather, Rachel and Art Pearce (1991) her brothers, Robert (1967), Lawrence (1986) and Bryan (2001) her mother and father-in-law, Amanda and Reinhold; her brother-in-law Albert; and her adopted grandson Joshua. Alexandra, along with her siblings, grew up in Winnipeg. She met her "soul-mate" Andrew, on a blind date on January 23, 1969. Andrew proposed on June 23 and they were married on August 23, 1969. Alexandra had many jobs, but the one she enjoyed the most was being a Nurses Aid, first at Mayfair Place and then at Beacon Hill Lodge. She also cherished her memories of managing a workshop for the developmentally delayed in Thompson, MB. She was an accomplished athlete, who enjoyed baseball, ball hockey, broomball and more recently bowling, where she made many friends. As a mother, she was most proud of her three children. She always encouraged her children to become the best that they could be in life, and instilled in them the values of love, respect and determination. While patiently waiting for grandchildren, Alexandra adopted five special grandchildren Joshua, Tyler, Michael, Malcolm and Stefan, whom she loved as if they were her own. She was overjoyed when her daughter gave birth to her grandson Brett, four months ago. For the last 22 years, Alexandra gallantly fought a war against Lupus. She survived many battles with this disease, each battle harder than the last. She had many doctors who worked with her and helped her throughout the years. She would have liked to thank Dr. G. Campbell, Dr. E. Sochocka, and especially the late Dr. Baragar, who was her mentor and gave her the strength and courage to keep fighting when all others had given up hope. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, CCU-5A, SICU, and Dr. Warrian for giving Alexandra the hope that she needed to fight one last time. We would also like to thank the staff at Southdale Medical Centre - Alexandra loved them! A special thank you is also extended to Janina, Doreen and Yvette for their support and love throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Alexandras memory to St. Amant Centre, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9, or to the charity of choice.
