THOMAS YOUNG Peacefully on May 26, 2004, with his family by his side, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas Young, passed away at the age of 92 years at the Deer Lodge Centre. Thomas is lovingly survived by his wife of 64 years Evangeline "Evelyn" (nee Turgeon) two daughters Gail (Dan) Sagness and Judy Osada; two sons Roger and Raymond (Glenda) sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and by one brother David (Flo). Many nieces and nephews also cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his mother Agnes, his father David and step-mother Christina; three sisters Ella, May and Betty, and by one brother Jim. Thomas served his King and country during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939-1945. He was employed by the Manitoba Government at the Teachers College from 1946 until his retirement in 1962. Upon retiring, he and Evelyn did extensive travelling, both in North America and abroad. Thomas belonged to the Weston Seniors Centre, where he enjoyed playing carpet bowling and volunteering his time for various functions that the Centre put on. He was also a member of the A.N.A.F. Br. 283. Thomas enjoyed sports, especially baseball and soccer, but also enjoyed watching the hockey game on television. He was also a big fan of the television game show "The Price is Right". He was very friendly to everyone he met - nobody was a stranger to him! Funeral service will take place on Monday, May 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy No. 1 East at Navin Rd. Reverend Fr. Polz will preside. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kendra Osada, Phillip Rhynold, Art Mayer, Darren Sagness, Karry Sagness, and Beth Young. The Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation the staff on T5, Deer Lodge Centre, for their wonderful care and for allowing Thomas to die with dignity.
