Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERT PARISIAN July 2, 1913 - May 20, 2004 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bert Parisian of Peguis First Nation with his family and nieces by his side until his final moments, on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Hes completed the Circle of Life. Bert leaves to mourn his children, Sidney (Virginia), John (Joey) of Winnipeg, Brian of Treherne, Irvin (Hazel), Kenny of Ontario and his daughter Arlene of Edmonton/Vancouver. Bert loved each of his children and grandchildren very dearly. The names of some of the grandchildren are Amber, Kenny Jr., Wesley, Brendan, Quinton, Bertrand Jr. (and his mother, Rose Scott), Craig, Shane, J.R., Jonathon, Stephanie, Stacey, Clifford, Adrian, Jared and numerous nieces and nephews. Bert was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Cook) and two children, Bertie and Shirley, and his soul mate Eva Scott of Swan Lake; his father John (Jack) and his mother Eliza (Favell) Parisian; his brothers, Richard, Sidney, John, Kenneth; his sister, Susie Sutherland; and his grandchildren, Rosalie, Terry, Acoby and Claude James Parisian. Bert enjoyed travelling over the countryside and had many stories to share about his adventures during his declining years. He told endless stories about the history of Peguis and assisted many band members locate their roots and find their identities. Bert held a charm that attracted many listeners to pause and listen to his daring adventures and near death escapades. While he was well, he raised his family the best that he could, as well as other families, he volunteered in tasks like cutting the grass for his neighbours, and although he was a small man in stature, he had a voice that ushered authority and drew many friends to him. Bert had an interesting way of unfolding a story and holding your attention, even if youd heard it repeatedly. A sacred fire, songs and fellowship will be held at the home of one of his "special" nieces residence, Judy (Kenneth) Stevenson, during the evening hours. A wake service will be held on Thursday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m., with a viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m. Both of these services will be held at the St. Matthews Anglican Church, Peguis, MB. Rev. Wesley Barrett and Rev. Barry Bear officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A memorial service will be held at the Bread of Life Ministry, 1338 Main St., Winnipeg, MB on Monday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to extend thanks to the Fisher River and Peguis Personal Care Homes, Peguis Chief and Council, Anderson Family Funeral Home, Percy E. Moore Hospital staff, all the visitors and family who came to visit during his time in the Hospital. Your kindness and care is appreciated.
