MARY JEANETTE McKAY (nee KENNING) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Mary Jeanette McKay (nee Kenning) on May 18, 2004 at 66 years of age. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband John; children, Donald (Kathy), Donna-Jean (Gary), and Douglas (Sandra) her grand-children, Cameron, Caitlyn, Kirsten, Graham, Joey, Lindsay and Scott; her brothers, Jim (Carol), Ken (Nina), Bill (Anne), Dick (Ruby), George (Elizabeth) and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary will also be greatly missed by family companion, Bear, and many other special friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary in 1989, and her father, Dirk in 1990. Mary was a loving and caring individual who gave freely of her time and talents. After a period of time spent at home with her three children, she was employed as a teachers aide at Sherwood School for a number of years, retiring in 1994. During this time, she made a number of close friendships which continue to this day. After her retirement, Mary thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren and pursuit of various interests including baking, ceramics, crocheting and crafts. Recently she discovered a passion for quilting and made numerous quilts which her family will cherish forever. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment and gathering of friends will follow the memorial service. Flowers are gratefully declined.
