PAUL O. OSTERWALD 1932 - 2004 It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Osterwald, aged 72, announces his passing on Monday May 17, 2004, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Paul passed away with his family by his side. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Inge; son Uwe of Winnipeg; son Ralph (Bonnie) and grandson, Erik of Toronto; daughter Karen of Kitchener, ON; and many relatives in Germany. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Anni Osterwald of Toenning, Germany. Paul immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1956. He was employed by International Harvester in Winnipeg for 38 years, where he was well known and respected for his expertise in fuel injection, turbo chargers and dynometer analysis. Paul enjoyed his retirement years, finishing their cottage in Gimli, and greatly enjoyed the outdoors, spending many hours working in the garden and landscaping. The family extends a thank you to friends and neighbours for their prayers and support over the past several months. Many thanks are also extended to all the doctors and nursing staff at Victoria Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre, Oncology units. In addition, a special thank you is extended to Riverview Health Centre, Dr. Garcia, nurses and health care aides in the Palliative Care unit (3 East wing), as well as Chaplain Ina Baas-Penner for all their love and support during Pauls final weeks while in their care. Cremation has taken place and at the request of the family a small private memorial service has been held. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Pauls memory can be made to Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4 or Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit, 2340 Pembina Hwy.
