SHIRLEY ANNE CHARLESON (nee KRUTKEVICH) On May 19, 2004 my loving and devoted wife Shirley Anne Charleson, surrounded with family and friends, passed away at the Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. She will be terribly missed by her husband of 40 years Donald; her children, Kenneth (Mary), Robert (Kim) and Karen (Wally) three grandchildren, Amber, William and Eric; brother John Krutkevich and wife Audrey; brother-in-law David Charleson and wife Jo-Anne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, George and Anne Krutkevich. Shirley was born in the community of Mountain Road, MB located north of Neepawa on November 16, 1942. She spent her early childhood and youth attending the local elementary school, and had a wonderful relationship with her many relatives and friends within this close knit Ukrainian community. On Sundays Shirley attended church at St. Marys Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral. Her summers were spent at a Ukrainian school run by the priests and sisters of the parish and helping out with farm chores. During her later youth she attended school in Eden, MB where she graduated with her high school diploma. Later she moved to Winnipeg and completed a business course at the Manitoba Technical Institute on Portage Avenue now known as the Robert Fletcher Building. Following this time she pursued a business career in the bank and later in the Federal Income Tax Department. In 1965 she married Donald William Charleson and the couple moved into an apartment on Hargrave Street where Shirley continued working with the Income Tax Department located on York Avenue. In 1966 they relocated to Edmonton, AB where her three children were born. After 10 years in Alberta the family moved back to Winnipeg where she continued raising her children and assisting her husband as a business partner in their successful engineering firm. She excelled in all her pursuits as a wife, mother, grandmother and business woman. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church in tune with her strong Catholic faith. She will be greatly missed by her family and many close friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grace CancerCare for the kindness and care provided to Shirley. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church at 1001 Grant Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with interment following at Garry Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Darcy Krutkevich, David Charleson, Don Sawchuk, Reynold Sokolik, Jim Krutkevich and Dale Sawchuk. All friends and family of Shirley may consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirleys memory to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
