RUTH GOLDBERG It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Goldberg announces her passing on May 9, 2004, in Toronto, after a lengthy illness. Ruth was predeceased by her mother and father, Sadie and Max Levene. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Morley Goldberg; her son Jeffrey (Robin) her daughter Susan (Rachel) and her beloved grandchildren, Jack and Zane; her sister Sheila (Bernie) Rubenstein; her brother David (Sherrill) Levene and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruthi grew up in Winnipeg in a warm family home surrounded by a loving extended family. She received her education and BA degree from the University of Manitoba. In 1967 she married Morley Goldberg and they spent 37 years together raising a wonderful family and sharing many mutual interests. After moving to Toronto, Ruthi worked at a variety of occupations, including running several home-based businesses and teaching special-needs students. Her fascination with the stock market lead her to completing the Canadian Securities Course. She loved to entertain people in her home. Friday night dinners and holiday celebrations were especially important to her and friends and extended family were always welcome. Ruthi battled cancer for over 22 years. After her first diagnosis and treatment at age 37 she was well for over 10 years, only to learn that cancer had returned to her life in another form. Throughout all those years Ruthi carried on a full, happy, dignified life. With a beautiful smile and a cheery voice she made everyone feel comfortable and happy, no matter how ill she really was. Ruthi was the heart and great strength of her family and her legacy will remain with them forever. Donations may be made to The Ruth Goldberg Memorial Fund c/o The Womens Endowment Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, phone 477-7525.
