Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEDWIG (HEDI) GUCWA Hedi passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at the age of 91. Hedi was predeceased by her parents, Rosa and Henry; husband Jan; brothers, Karl, Leopold and Walter; sister-in-law Frieda; and nephew Walter. She is survived by her brother William Roucek; niece Monica and her children, Michael and Kevin; sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Karin and their families. Hedi was born on October 1, 1912 in Jihalava, Czechoslovakia, immigrating to Canada in 1958, establishing her home in Winnipeg, where she met and married Jan. She worked as a seamstress for 19 years never missing a day of work. Hedi loved adventure. In her youth she enjoyed sports and the outdoors. Later in life she enjoyed travelling and dancing and spending time with her family and friends. Hedi always made time to sew. She could always be found designing a new dress or beading a gown, sewing clothing for her family or for needy children abroad. Hedi shared her zest for life as a lifetime member and active volunteer of the Polish Canadian Legion, Branch No. 246, the St. John Cantius Club and the Holy Ghost Parish. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 21 at 9:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with Rev. Fr. Antoni Degutis, O.M.I. officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. "We will miss her laughter and compassion and Hedi will remain in our hearts forever" CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
