Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS ALLERY Phyllis passed away peacefully and with dignity on May 20, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre with her daughter and her niece by her side. Phyllis Mary Valentine Mitchell was born on July 16, 1911 to Bevil Medhurst Mitchell and Eva Teresa Kenway in Portage la Prairie, MB. She moved to Winnipeg at an early age and attended St. Ignatius School and St. Marys Academy. On September 11, 1937, she married Frederick Charles Allery (Public Press Ltd.) at St. Ignatius Church and they enjoyed 54 wonderful years together. Phyllis worked at the T. Eaton Company for many years in the hosiery department, both at the downtown store and at Polo Park. Phyllis was active in the Guild at St. Josephs Vocational School, was a member of St. Marys Academy Alumni, a lifetime member of the CWL at St. Ignatius Church and a member of the McKinnon Guild of the Childrens Hospital. Until a month ago, she was volunteering weekly at their Thrift Shop. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years with her husband Fred, and later with sister Shirley. She had been a member of St. Ignatius Parish for over 75 years. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Bevil and Eva Mitchell; her beloved mother-in-law Florence Allery; and her adoring husband Fred, in 1991. She was also predeceased by her brother Ken (Annetta) Mitchell, sister Shirley Prendergast, and daughter-in-law Sandy (Saunders) Allery. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Tony) Heim; son David (Deanna) Allery; grandchildren, John (Marlys) Heim, Jennifer (Stephen) Lawrence, Dan Allery and Lindsay Allery. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Ainslee and Halle, Brook and Finlay; cousins, nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., on Tuesday, May 25, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Viewing will be held half hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
