MYRA HALPRIN It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Myra Halprin at the age of 74. Myra passed away on April 24, 2004 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Myra is survived by her loving husband Herb of 54 years; and her three children, Marty (Celia), Irv (Diane) and Phil (Brenda) her grandchildren, Stephanie, Nathan, Mathew, Josh, Kerrie and Melanie; her sister Beverley Abrams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Nathan and Molly Resnick; and her sister Betty. Myra was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. She attended St. Johns High School where she met and then later married her husband Herb in 1950. Myra devoted her whole life to raising her three children and providing a thriving, loving home for them as well as being surrogate mum to nieces, nephews and the many numerous young friends that the boys would bring home. This nurturing extended to her daughters-in-law and later to her grandchildren. Myra was always willing to extend her hand to help anybody in need. Myra was an active member of Hadassah acting as founding president of the Ben Gurion Chapter in the 1960s, as well as being a member of The National Council Of Jewish Women. After her children were grown Myra went to work as the secretary of Westgrove School, meeting and endearing herself to the staff and students there. At 50 years she learned to play tennis which she enjoyed for many years. At 70 years she began to drive for "Meals on Wheels" a volunteer organization which delivers meals for elderly people. Myra was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. We will miss her counsel, her love, her great stories and her fabulous parties. She was always the centre of our lives and she will be in our hearts forever. Funeral services were held on April 26, 2004 at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Pallbearers were, Mathew Halprin, Josh Halprin, Michael Halprin, Davey Halprin, Bobbie Bernstein and Kenny Steiman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
