ERNEST MAX PHILLIP SHIMKUS Sadly and suddenly passed away April 15, 2004 in Qualicum Beach, BC. Known to all as "Ernie", he is survived and will be missed by his loving wife Vicki, children, Jody (Bob), Scott (Dianne) and Blair (Mandie) and his loving grandsons, Mackenzie and Dylan. Ernie leaves to mourn sisters, Marlene Reguly, Dorothy Grandpre and Ruth (Denis) Jeanson and nieces and nephews as well as his relatives and many friends in both Winnipeg and Qualicum Beach. Ernie was born in Winnipeg, January 16, 1942 and was employed by the Manitoba Telephone System for 35 years. He was a longtime member of the Khartum Temple Shrine and for several years part of their Drum and Bugle Corps. Over the last eight years, Ernie and Vicki enjoyed their friends and the climate of Qualicum Beach where Ernie remained active golfing, walking and passionately fundraising to preserve the historic Brown Property and its tract of old growth forest. Ernie will be deeply missed by all. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., Winnipeg. Those wishing to do so may make donations to the BROWN PROPERTY PRESERVATION SOCIETY, Walker and Wilson, 2 - 707 Primrose St., Qualicum Beach, BC.
