Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES (Charlie) LORNE ROGOSKI July 31, 1920 - May 22, 2004 With great sadness and sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Charlie on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at his home, in Winnipeg Beach, at the age of 83. Charlie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife Anne of 56 years and sons, Ron (Arlene), Garry (Evelyn) and Grant (Grace) his dearly loved grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer), Brian, Tammy (Andrew) and Tyler; his great-grandchildren, Nicole, Bailey and Evan; sisters, Helen Leggat, Betty-Anne Skaritko (Ron) and brother Dennis (Shirlee). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends that will surely miss him. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Dan and Phylis Rogoski, brothers, Frank (Carrie), Victor (Ruby) sister Kay Caunce (George) and brother-in-law Bill Leggat. He was born on July 31, 1920 in Matlock, MB. Charlie and his brothers worked the family business "Dans Transfer" hauling ice, wood and freight. From 1939 to 1945, Charlie served proudly with the Canadian Armed Forces (Royal Winnipeg Rifles), a veteran with overseas combat duty in the Second World War achieving the rank of Sergeant. At the end of his service he returned to the family business in Matlock. On May 15, 1948, he married Anne (Tomko). They moved to Winnipeg Beach, MB in 1952, and continued with Dans Transfer until retirement. As a young man, Charlie was an avid hunter, enjoyed curling and had an appreciation for old time fiddle music. In 1952, he became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #61). He volunteered his time for various functions, especially bingo. He also served as president and secretary treasurer and recently enjoyed his 52nd year of membership. He enjoyed the company of many friends and family, reminiscing the good old days. Dad was known for his generous nature when it came to helping people. Dad you were always there for us and you will always be in our hearts and prayers. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. (tonight) in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the Our Lady Of The Lake Roman Catholic Church, Winnipeg Beach with Sister Cathy Laviolette officiating. Interment to follow in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Charlies Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rogoski, Garry Rogoski, Grant Rogoski, Brian Rogoski, Tammy Rogoski and Ron Skaritko. In lieu of flowers, anyone who so desires may make a donation to the Gateway Foundation in Winnipeg Beach, P.O. Box 172 Winnipeg Beach, MBROC 3G0 or to the charity of ones choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
