Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL SMUTTELL Peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Betel Home in Selkirk, Michael Smuttell aged 96 years. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Donna Hodgins (Ken), Marian Evans (Bill), and Allan Smuttell (Sandra) nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle and his daughter-in-law Karen. Mike was born in Canora, SK and spent most of his life farming in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He retired to Brandon and wintered in Arizona for several years. His final years were spent in the Winnipeg area and he particularly enjoyed his summer with family and friends in the Whiteshell, fishing, berry-picking, and working on small construction projects. He was always interested in sports, playing hockey, baseball, horseshoes and curling. In his later years he was an avid spectator. He was a lifetime member of the United Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave., Selkirk, MB with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at the Virden Cemetery on Monday, May 31 at 1:00 p.m. Lunch and fellowship to follow both services. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Garth Evans, Neil Hodgins, Guy Sever, Daryl Smuttell, Jeff Smuttell, and Ron Waterman. If desired, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1101-191 Lombard Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0X1. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
