PIETRO CEFALI Our family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Pietro Cefali on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. Pietro will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his dear wife, Ippolita (Pina), daughters, Joanna Porter (Edmund), Lisa Grist (Glen), Maria Cefali; his son Joe Cefali; grandsons, Blake and Lucas Grist; sisters Elena Foderaro (Antonio), Serafina Cianflone (late, Luigi), Antonietta Bellantonio of Vibo, Italy, Maria Muraca (Fortunato) of Cortale, Italy; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, both in Winnipeg and in Italy. Pietro was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Giovanna Cefali, sister Angela Migliaccio, brother-in-laws Giuseppe Migliaccio, Pino Bellantonio, Francesco Foderaro, Battista Foderaro, all of Italy and Luigi Cianflone of Winnipeg. Pietro Cefali was born June 28, 1933 in Cortale, Italy. He emigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in January 1957 to pursue a new opportunity where he could raise his future family. In November 1964, he returned to Italy and married Ippolita (Pina) Foderaro on December 30, 1964. This year they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Mamma and Papa returned to Winnipeg to begin their new lives together. They were blessed with four children; Joanna, Lisa, Joe, Maria and two grandsons, Blake and Lucas. Papa worked for Cara Food Services for over 30 years, where he was a dedicated and loyal employee. Papa will be remembered by family and friends for his strong work ethic, his faith in God, his sense of humor, his generosity and storytelling. He taught his children the value of caring for ones family, supporting ones friends, doing ones best and living ones faith. Papa was a devoted family man. Papa cherished the time he spent with his wife, Pina, and together they shared a love for gardening, creating a wide array of vegetables and fruit trees. Papa loved the large family gatherings and celebrating lifes events together. He took pride in his childrens achievements. He adored his grandsons and they will remember his many songs and stories. He often shared his memories of growing up in Italy. It was important to him to keep in regular touch with family and friends around the world over the years. Papa was dedicated to his faith and every Sunday enjoyed attending the early mass at Holy Rosary Church. The family is appreciative of the quick support the neighbors gave Mamma and Papa on the morning he passed away. We would like to thank Papas extended family "the Minaki Bay neighbors" for their friendship and support over the years. Papa, you have been a loving husband, wonderful father and dear friend. We were hoping for more years together and know that God blesses you now, as you finally join your dear parents in heaven. We will miss you and are grateful for all that you have done for us. We love you, Papa, and know that your love and strength are with us as we go forward each day. Ciao Caro Papa. Ciao Caro Nonno. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Fr. Vincent presiding at the Eucharist. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to the mass. Entombment to follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd.
