Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGUTHRIE MYLES (RAY) CHAMBERS Peacefully, and with his family nearby, Ray passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Oakview Place, Winnipeg. Born on 14 May 1911 and christened as Guthrie (but always known as Ray) the second son of James E and Jane Fowler (Myles) Chambers, he grew up in Saskatoon. In early adult life, Ray joined the Massey-Harris Company (later Massey Ferguson), with whom he spent his life for over fifty years, working variously in Saskatoon, Brandon, Winnipeg and Toronto, as the job demanded, supervising farm implement transport in Western Canada. In 1938, while he was stationed in Winnipeg, he met and married Mary Edith Smith, a registered nurse working at St. Boniface Hospital. Their son Fred was born in 1945. They were longtime residents of Fort Rouge, living on Warsaw Ave. This remained their family home and, after a long working life, they were able to enjoy a long and peaceful retirement together until Marys death in 1994. In 1998, Ray moved into Lions Manor and later to Oakview Place. The family would like to extend their particular thanks to both homes, where Ray received dedicated and careful attention during his final years. The last survivor of seven siblings, Ray is survived by his son Fred and daughter-in-law Veronika who live in London, England, as well as by numerous nephews and nieces and their children - including Bev and Errol Taggart of Winnipeg. Ray was a good man, a peaceful man - but always with a gleam in his eye. A loving husband and father, he is remembered for his easy going, friendly nature, a man who made life easier for others and who will always remain in our affections. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be conducted later in the year. Thomson Funeral Chapels 783-7211
