ANNA JANISCH (nee SUMMER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the age of 96, at the Selkirk General Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary, son Joseph (Del), grandchildren in Vancouver, Calgary, Manitoba and Ontario, daughter-in-law Jess Janisch, son-in-law James Gorrill, nephew Raymond Janisch (Peggy) and family, niece Agnes Preiner (George) and family, numerous great-grandchildren, and relatives in Austria, Germany and the United States. Anna was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1992, and her two eldest children, daughter Rosa and son Andrew, in November 2000. She was born on March 21, 1908 in Austria, the eldest of four children. She immigrated to Saskatchewan as a young woman, and was followed by her future husband, Joseph. They were married in Regina in 1929. They eventually moved to Petersfield and started the family farm, which is now operated by son Joseph and grandson Andrew. Annas priorities were her family, her church and her community. She took pride in her childrens achievements. She belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne and the Hospital Aid. She loved flowers, bingo and whist. Shortly after her husbands death in 1992, Anna became a resident of the Betel Home in Selkirk. She remained there until May 4, 2004, when she was admitted to the Selkirk General Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Petersfield. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held in the church basement following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
