Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE (TOOTS) LONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Irene Long, aged 83 years, of Winnipeg, formerly of Lockport, MB, on May 27, 2004. Irene is survived by her daughters, Joan (Ken) and grandchildren, Bill (Karen) and their children, Brooke and Devon; Valerie; Lori (George) and their children, Ryan, Denise and Marcus; Heather and her children, Lee and Adam; Scott (Janie) and their children, Spencer and Hunter and Trevor (Jen) and their daughter Amanda; daughter Joyce (Frank) and grandchildren, Trudy and her children, Tyler and Tiffany; Guyle (Sarah) and their children, Kyle, Nikki, Jay, Joyann, Michael and Nicholas and great-great-grandson Jayden; Amber (Todd) Skip (Jamyka) son Larry (Sandy) and grandchildren, Cole, Cody and Dylan; daughter-in-law Louise and grandchildren, Jerret (Nancy) and Brett (Tracey) brother Neil Holmes; sister-in-law Ethel Holmes; as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Frank; and her son Frankie; brothers, Elmer and Wilmer (Pat) Holmes; sister and brother-in-law Clio and Russell Ross. Irene was born in Cloverleaf, MB, on June 12, 1920, and married Frank Long in 1939. They resided in Lockport and owned Longs Grocery for 23 years. Irene has made many friends over her lifetime throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Irene was one of a kind. She was a lady with a mischievous side to her. She could make us laugh and cry at the same time. We will never forget her loving ways. There was not a child or grandchild that she didnt touch in some special way. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. We love you Mom and Nanny God Speed A special thank you to the staff on the 3rd floor East Wing of Riverview for all their care and kindness to our mother, Irene. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, May 29 in the Old St. Andrews Anglican Church, St. Andrews, MB, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. S. Sharman officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
