FRIESEN Born in Winkler, Manitoba on October 28, 1932, Mabel Jessie Friesen passed away peacefully on April 22, 2004 in Penticton, BC, following a courageous battle with cancer. Her brother and four sisters fondly remember Mabel. Mabel was predeceased by her husband, George B. Bruce in 1989; her parents, Agatha and Peter T. Friesen; and her younger brother, Kenneth H. Friesen. Mourning her passing are sisters Katherine Loewen of Port Coquitlam, BC; Florence Edwards of Winnipeg, MB; Lillian (Gordon) Collins of Maple Ridge, BC; Deanna (Don) Kohanik of Winnipeg, MB; and brother Harvey P. (Irene) Friesen of Winkler, MB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special thank you to her sisters Deanna and Lillian; the caring staff of Haven Hill Retirement Centre in Penticton, BC; and friends in Osoyoos and Penticton. Cremation has taken place. A service in her memory will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m., at the Covenant Mennonite Church, 363 - 8th St., Winkler, MB. Internment to follow at Winkler Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9. Other donation information will be made available at the memorial service.
