BRUCE M. ERICKSON Bruce M. Erickson, 77, of Superior, died on Friday, April 23, 2004, in the St. Marys Hospice Unit in Duluth. He was born in Superior to the late Marcus and Stella (Jacobson) Erickson on December 21, 1926. He received his early education in Superior and then graduated from Duluth Central High School. He served for a short time as a Navy corpsman in California and on the Great Lakes on an ore carrier. Bruce lived in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, for over five years, where he met his future wife, Eileen Saunders. He earned a general bachelor of science degree from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg while working in the pharmacology department at the medical school. His pharmacy degree was obtained from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1965. He worked as a hospital pharmacist for almost 30 years, retiring from the former Superior Memorial Hospital in 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley McToyer. Bruce is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Eileen; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Sawyer, and many cousins. A funeral service was held on Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Henry Hanna officiated the service. If relatives and friends should desire, memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Downs Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
