CHARLES GARY LOUGHEAD May 5, 1965 - May 15, 2004 Tragically on May 15, 2004 Charlie was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Kelowna, BC, his home since 1995. Charlie is survived by his mother Rita; father Lloyd; sister Maureen (Dennis) and brother Andrew. Charlie will be greatly missed by his nieces, Jessica and Victoria and his nephews, Julian, Lindsay and Cameron. His grandmother Lorene in Victoria, BC and his uncles, Glen (Debbie), John and Gary and their families also mourn Charlies loss. Charlie grew up in the West Kildonan area of Winnipeg, MB playing hockey at Margaret Park Community Centre (now Vince Leah Community Centre) and spending summers swimming at Kildonan Park. Charlie was a fun loving boy who had a soft spot for all animals. His two dogs CJ (Charlie Jr.) and Angel will be looked after by family and friends. After school Charlie struck out on his own and moved to Toronto to work in the construction industry, eventually obtaining his papers in wall and ceiling installation. Charlie was an exceptionally hard worker, gaining full respect of his coworkers as someone who willingly tackled any job and who only the best could keep up with, earning him the nickname "Go Hard Charlie". Charlie played as hard as he worked. Hockey was his game. He played with intensity and enthusiasm. The pure physical nature of the game just fit with Charlies character. Charlie was a generous man who would do anything for his family and friends. This selflessness resulted in many close and loyal friendships wherever he was. The outpouring of sympathy and love testifies to the type of friend Charlie was. No matter how difficult his journey became, Charlie rarely complained, choosing instead to live life to its fullest. His family and friends are going to miss Charlie in ways words cannot express. The struggle is over Charlie, put down your tools and rest. Know that we will love you forever. The family wishes to thank all Charlies friends and coworkers, particularly Scott Hall, Glen Purdorm, Linda Frees and Richelle Ruckaber, for their tremendous help in Kelowna. A gathering for family and friends is going to be held Monday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. in the pavilion at Kildonan Park, Main Street, Winnipeg.
