GARRY MAYER It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Garry J. Mayer, beloved husband of the late Helen Mayer. Garry passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the age of 58 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Tricia Sande (Kelly) of Lethbridge, Alberta, Ryan Mayer and Trina Mayer of Winnipeg, and treasured grandchildren, Cody, Justin and Emma. He is also survived by brothers, Norman (Ivy), Joe (Bev), and sisters, Julia, Victoria and Agnes (Lawrence) as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, coworkers and friends. Garry was predeceased by his wife Helen; parents John and Elizabeth Mayer; brothers, Fred, Peter, Gordon, Jim and sisters Evelyn and Theresa. Garry was born in Grayson, Saskatchewan, the youngest of 12 children, on May 31, 1945. He grew up around Crooked Lake and Broadview Saskatchewan and later moved on to work in Regina Beach and Regina. It was there that he met his wife, Helen Curts, who he married on April 24, 1971. Shortly after that the two moved to Winnipeg were they began their family. Garry worked for many years in the paint industry eventually opening his business The Paint Place. Most recently he was employed with Faneuil Group Inc. Many will remember Garry for his love of card games, those visiting would know to come prepared with pockets of change. He also enjoyed bingo, gardening, fishing, cooking for friends and family, summers at Lac Lu and always that search for the perfect garage sale treasure. Most importantly Garry enjoyed the company of friends and loved ones and especially the time spent with his grandchildren. He loved swimming with grandsons Cody and Justin and meeting his new granddaughter Emma. Garrys funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Saviours Anglican Church, 690 Munroe Ave., with Rev. Rick Condo officiating. Interment will take place in Green Acres Memorial Gardens Cemetery later that afternoon. Honorary pallbearers will be Garry Danylyshen, Sid Hanson, Norman Mayer, John Wiebe, Bob Woodrow, Steve Warner and Jim Young. Our family wishes to express our sincerest thanks to all those who have been there for us over the last few very difficult years and for their continued support and encouragement. Special thanks to Garrys cousin Bernice and Bob Woodrow. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Garrys memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB. R3L OK6 or to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3E 0V9. We did not know that morning What sorrow that day would bring, The bitter grief and shock severe To part with the one we love so dear. You bid no one a last farewell No chance to say good-bye, You were gone before we knew it Only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. Though your smile is gone forever And your hand we cannot touch, We will never lose the memory, Of the one we love so much. WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
