CALVIN JOHN ASMUNDSON I may be gone from this place but I live on in the hearts and dreams of those who loved me. Calvin John Asmundson passed away on May 28, 2004 at Oakview Extendicare at age 73 after a long and courageous battle with health problems predominated by a series of strokes. Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Eileen; his sons, Graham and Gordon (Kimberley) his grandchildren, Christopher, Jaimz (Karen), and Aleiia; his sisters and brothers, Lillian Anderson (Roy), Aldis Nault (Elwood), Louise Cote (Jim), Winnie Morken, Grace Ostrum (Helmer), Edna, Earl (Mavis), and Gordon (Brandi) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl (1980) and Anne (1985) his daughter Karen (1982) and his younger brother Edward (2001). Calvin was born in Piney, MB, April 23, 1931, the oldest of 10 siblings. In 1948 he left home to join the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he had a long and distinguished career, retiring to Winnipeg in 1981. He worked for the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires until his retirement in 1987. Calvin had a passion for hunting and was an accomplished marksman. In more recent years he enjoyed spending time visiting with his family and friends. He will be missed deeply by all. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made on behalf of the family to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
